FAQs

Are sessions in-person or virtual?

Sessions can be in-office or virtual. Virtual sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. This ensures confidentiality and privacy. In-person sessions take place at my office (300 E Main Street, Carmel, IN).

Do you take insurance?

Most of my clients utilize insurance to help pay for therapy. I am in-network with United, UMR, Aetna, and Cigna. For other health insurances, I am considered an out-of-network provider. If you woud like assistance in checking your out-of-network benefits, feel free to reach out to me! You can also determine if you have out-of-network mental health coverage by calling the number located on the back of your insurance card. Some helpful questions you can ask them: -What are my mental health benefits? -What percentage of my bill will be covered for services obtained by an out-of-network provider? -How many sessions will be covered per calendar year? -What is my deductible and has it been met? I will provide you with a superbill (a receipt that contains all of the information that your insurance company would need to process the appointment) for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Insurance providers typically reimburse 50-80% of session costs once your deductible is met. I also accept HSA accounts. In certain cases, when there is financial need, I may be able to provide a reduced fee rate. Please reach out to me if you would like more information on my reduced fee spots.

Why come to therapy?

Reasons for coming to therapy looks different for everyone. Some start therapy while in crisis or after a major/stressful life event. Others start therapy to better understand themselves, to work through difficult areas within their life, and to explore their ability to thrive. Life happens fast-which can make it difficult to fully connect with ourself and others. Therapy can help us slow down and gain new insight into our life and experiences.

What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting (BSP) locates points in the client’s visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. It is a brain-body based treatment for healing from stress, anxiety, and depression. BSP also integrates well with other types of therapies. Brainspotting helps focus and process emotional and somatic problems held in parts of the brain and body that may be otherwise inaccessible to the conscious mind, helping you develop a healthier relationship with your body and your emotional reactions to stress. Brainspotting was discovered in 2003 by Dr. David Grand.
